Who are you?
We're the pack leaders behind Paws Adventures Retreat - a Carteron based crew of dog-lovin', mud-stompin', treat carryin', tail waggin' professionals who believe dogs deserve more than just a quick walk around the block. Basically, we're your dogs new BFFs (Best Fur-iends Forever).
What services do you offer?
We offer adventures like doggy daycare (Doggy Daycare Playdays), dog walking (Waggin' Walks) and overnight boarding (Stay & Play Getaway). We also offer pet minding and feeding services for both dogs and cats.
What is a typical Waggin' Walk dog walk like?
Our Waggin Walks are the ultimate group adventure - think of it as a social club on four legs (with occasional pee breaks). We round up a friendly pack of pooches and hit the trails, sniffing out excitement, fresh air and definitely that one mysterious tree everyone loves. Expect a whole lot of tail wagging, polite butt sniffs, synchronised zoomies and new best friends. We match temperaments and energy levels so your dog will always be walkin' with their kind of crowd - whether that's the chill crew or the zoom squad.
What is Stay & Play Getaway dog boarding all about?
Stay & Play isn't your average dog boarding - it's more like a sleepover at your cool aunt's house who totally lets you on the couch.
When your pup boards with us they become part of the family. No outdoor kennels, no lonely days, no sad puppy eyes staring through fences. Just warm beds, loving humans, couch cuddles, playtime with new friends and plenty of belly rubs on demand.
Whether they're here for one night or a whole holiday, your dog will be safe, happy and living their best life.
What are the hours for Stay & Play Getaway dog boarding?
Check-in for our Stay & Play Getaway opens at 1pm (that's when the tails start wagging)
Check-out is at 11am — if your doggo decides to snooze their way past checkout, no worries! They’ll simply join our Doggy Daycare crew for the day and a daycare charge will apply.
What is Doggy Daycare Playdays?
Whether your pup is a social butterfly, an enthusiastic explorer or a professional couch-potato-in-training, we’ve got a spot for them. Our little pack spends the day roaming, playing, learning good manners, and soaking up all the love and attention they deserve.
Drop them off for a day with us — they’ll go home tired, satisfied, and convinced they’ve just had the best day ever.
What are the hours for Doggy Daycare Playdays?
Drop-off: 7:30am–9am
Full-day pick-up: 4pm–5:30pm
Half-day: 1pm pick-up or 1pm drop-off — because some dogs are morning zoomies, others are afternoon snoozies
What if it's raining?
We've got raincoats and zero sense of dignity but we will cancel walks if weather is stormy or heavy rain. Daycare and Boarding continue rain or sunshine.
Do you offer pick-up and drop-offs for walks, daycare or boarding?
Fur sure we do! We're basically your dog's personal Uber - minus the awkward small talk and with way more treats. Whether it's for a Waggin' Walk or Stay & Play sleepovers, we'll swing by and scoop up your pup right from your doorstep. We'll even return them dog-tired and happy, like they've just been on vacation (because honestly, they kind of have). All you have to do is sit, stay and relax - we've got the wheels and the woofs covered. This is a free service within Carterton and only $8 each way for other areas.
What areas do you cover?
We're based in beautiful Carterton, but our adventures stretch far and wide.
Our pack patrol covers the wider Wairarapa area. Whether your pup's chillin in Greytown, running wild in Featherston, living the rural dream in Martinborough or wagging tails in Masterton, we've got paws on the ground and wheels on the road.
If you're unsure if you're in our bark zone just give us a howl - we'll let you know if we can fetch your furry friend!
Do you accept all breeds?
From Chihuahuas to Great Danes, we don't discriminate - we love them all. Every pooch gets the VIP (Very Important Pup) treatment.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes — to keep all dogs in our care safe and healthy, proof of up-to-date vaccinations is required before any booking can be accepted. You can provide this via email ahead of your booking or when we pick up your furry friend.
Do I need to pay a deposit when booking?
A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance is payable when your dog's adventure wraps up.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 48 hours notice if you need to cancel your booking. Cancellations made after this time will forfeit the deposit.
Do you charge extra for Public Holidays?
Nope! We don't charge any extra fees for Public Holidays or holiday season bookings.
Can I meet you before booking?
Absolutely! We love meeting new humans almost as much as we love meeting their dogs. We offer free meet and sniffs so you and your pup can get to know us before committing to the full tail-waggin experience.
Will my dog be supervised?
Always. Constant human supervision is part of the gig. We're not just here for the belly rubs (though that is a perk). Whether they're snoozing on the couch, playing in the yard or out on an adventure your pup will be safe, monitored and adored.
How many dogs do you care for at once?
We keep things cosy and controlled. Small group sizes are key to our chill, happy pack. That means more attention, more snuggles and less chaos.
Because of our limited spaces bookings can fill up fast so we highly recommend booking early to avoid the heartbreak of telling your pup the party is full.
What happens if my dog gets sick or injured?
We take every precaution to keep pups safe but if something happens, we act fast. You'll be contacted immediately and we'll seek vet care if needed. We've got emergency contacts, transport and big hearts - your dog's wellbeing is our top paw-rity.

If this is your first booking with us you will need to request access to the portal. Once set up you can browse our availability and make bookings. To get set up just send us an email or call / text.
Can I cancel my booking?
Absolutely. We understand sh*t happens. We just ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel. This gives us time to offer the spot to another furry friend. Cancellations made with 48 hours notice or more will receive a full refund.
